Common answers

How do I get Pro?

Pro is sold through the App Store in the iPhone app: open More, then Loadout Ledger Pro, choose monthly ($4.99) or yearly ($39.99), and tap Subscribe. Pro holds every firearm you own and adds AI research and ammo barcode lookup; everything else is free.

Subscribe while signed in to your synced account and Pro comes with the account to the web app and the Android app too. Neither can sell subscriptions itself yet.

How do I restore my Pro subscription?

Sign in to the App Store with the Apple ID you subscribed with, then open More, then Loadout Ledger Pro and tap Restore purchases. The app also checks the App Store by itself each time it opens, so a reinstall usually has Pro back before you look.

If it says there is no Loadout Ledger Pro subscription on this Apple ID, the phone is signed in to a different Apple ID than the one that bought it.

Pro reaches the web app through your synced account. Sign in to that account on the iPhone that holds the subscription, open the app or tap Restore purchases, and the account picks it up.

How do I cancel Pro?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so cancel on your iPhone or iPad: open Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions, choose Loadout Ledger, and tap Cancel Subscription. Do it at least 24 hours before the period ends to stop the next renewal. Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for.

Nothing is deleted when Pro ends. Your records stay; you just cannot add another active firearm while you hold more than the free plan's 5. Deleting your cloud account does not cancel the subscription, and the web app cannot cancel it.

I have a new phone. How do I bring my armory over?

With a synced account (the simple way):

  1. Install Loadout Ledger from the App Store or Google Play, open it, and tap Continue on this device.
  2. Open More. The first row reads This device only until you sign in; tap it.
  3. On Sign in, enter your username and password and tap Unlock. Your records, photos, manuals and documents come down, and the row now reads Synced account.

Set up from an iPhone backup? Your vault's encryption key never leaves the phone that made it, so the copy that arrives inside a backup cannot be opened by anyone. The app tells you so with Fresh vault on this phone and starts a fresh, empty vault. Sign in as above and your armory comes down from the synced account.

Without an account: on the old phone, open More, then Backup and restore, tap Export all data, then Share the archive to send the file to the new phone (by AirDrop or Files, for example). On the new phone, open the same screen, tap Choose a file, pick the archive, and import it.

A PIN and Face ID lock belong to the phone they were set on, so turn them on again under More, then Lock Loadout Ledger. If you have Pro, see restoring it above.

I forgot my password. Can you reset it?

No, and that is by design. Your password seals your vault on your own device, and we never receive it, so there is no reset and nobody, including us, can open what the cloud holds without it.

If a phone is still signed in, its records are safe and readable there. From that phone:

  1. Export a backup first (More, then Backup and restore, then Export all data).
  2. Open More, then Synced account and tap Delete cloud account. The records on the phone stay.
  3. The screen goes back to sign-in. Choose Create account and pick a new password; your old username is free to use again. Everything on the phone uploads under the new account. If you have Pro, tap Restore purchases under Loadout Ledger Pro.

If only a web browser is still signed in, open Backup and restore there and export your records right away. Import that file on a phone with Choose a file, then create a new account from the phone.

If nothing is signed in anymore, the cloud copy cannot be recovered. Records kept on a phone with no account are not affected.

While you still know it, you can change the password under More, then Synced account, then Change password. Your other devices then sign in again with the new one.

How do I back up or export my records?

Open More, then Backup and restore (also under Reports) and tap Export all data. You get a zip with armory.json (every record), CSV views, and every photo, manual and document. Turn on Include the insurance schedule to add the PDF. Then tap Share the archive to save it to Files or send it elsewhere. The web app has the same export under Backup and restore.

The archive is not encrypted: it holds your serial numbers and everything else, so keep it somewhere you trust. To restore, use Choose a file on the same screen and pick Merge or Replace everything.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open More, then Synced account, tap Delete cloud account at the bottom, and confirm with Delete. In the web app, open Account and tap Delete account.

This removes the account and everything the cloud holds for it, right away: every encrypted record, photo and file, your devices and the subscription link. The records on your phone stay there; to remove them too, delete the app. Deleting the account does not cancel an App Store subscription, so cancel that in Settings if you no longer want it.

Can you see my records?

No. Without an account they never leave your phone. With one, they are encrypted on your device before they upload, and the key comes from a password only you know. The privacy policy lists exactly what the service can and cannot see.
